Foshan ranked 15th among China’s top 100 foreign trade cities

Recently, unveiled by China Customs, Foshan ranked 15th on the list of “2019 China’s top 100 foreign trade cities”, 4 places higher than 2018.

The list of China’s top 100 foreign trade cities, released by General Administration of Customs, is composed of 25 indicators of 5 evaluation systems: urban foreign trade level competitiveness, structural competitiveness, profit competitiveness, development competitiveness and potential competitiveness, and is comprehensively sorted according to the national economic data, which is a barometer reflecting the foreign trade strengths of major cities in China.

Since 2019, facing the downturn of global major economies and other negative elements, the quality of Foshan foreign trade was improved steadily. In 2019, Foshan’s foreign trade imports and exports saw a breakthrough with the import and export value of 482.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5%, acquiring the fastest growth rate in the Pearl River Delta.

Since 2020, Foshan Customs has further promoted the facilitation of customs clearance, improved the business environment at the port, discovered new growth points of foreign trade, and served the high-quality development of local economy on the basis of co-ordinating the epidemic prevention and control at the port and promoting the steady growth of foreign trade. These include promoting the development of new trade formats, supporting the development of Foshan cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, assisting in the construction of Sanshan Port cross-border e-commerce customs clearance center; promoting the mode of “advance declaration”, realizing “direct lifting at shore” and “direct loading at the port”, greatly reducing the import and export clearance time in Foshan, and so on.
